The Pope's Visit
I went to Hyde Park on Saturday and I saw the Pope. It was a fantastic experience. We saw the Pope in the Popemobile, it's a strange looking car. I had a great time and I shook his hand too.

On Saturday I went to Hyde Park Corner with my mum, my dad and my older brother. It took 3 hours until the Pope arrived. When he finally arrived, the big TV cameras turned up and he waved at me. After that, I went around and watched him in the Mass on the big TV screen. After that, it took 2 hours to get back home and we got back home at 10 o'clock. It felt fantastic and very extradionary to see the Pope.

The Big Assembly
On Friday 17th September we all gathered in the school hall to join the Pope at the Big Assembly in St Mary's University College, Twickenham. This special occasion involved over 3000 young people from every Diocese in the UK. Reanna, our Head Girl was chosen to represent our school as part of the Diocese of Brentwood. Reanna will share her experience with us next week on our blog site.

Summer Holidays
Year 6 Leaver's Mass
We finished our year with a very special Year 6 Leaver's Mass. Father Adam and a special visitor Father Luke celebrated Mass with the whole school and parents. It was a very emotional mass as the Year 6 pupils said their final farewell to St Aidan's. The children received a commerative Mass card from Mrs Brown.
We wish all the children in Year 6 good luck in their new schools when they start in September.
Star Pupil of the Year
Congratulations to the children who received Star Pupil of the Year.

Year 6 Leaver's Assembly
What an emotional assembly! The children remembered just a few of their special times here at St Aidan's. They thanked all the adults who have helped them through the years and Mrs Thomas, Mrs Garvan, Mrs Rattigan and Mrs Boland were presented with bouquets of flowers as a show of thanks from the children.
The children continued to celebrate as they went off to Southend for the day.

Year 6 v Teachers Netball Match
The crowd were nervous, the players even more so (especially the staff!). The Year 6's looked confident (they have only lost 1 game this year), the staff loooked - well terrified. But what a match! The Year 6 players were excellent. They marked and passed brilliantly. The teachers worked well and tried their best and after a lead of 2 - 1 at half time, the teachers were becoming more confident. Then Year 6 scored. Then another goal and another. The final score was 4 - 2 to Year 6. Well done to boh the girls and the staff for a excellent display of skills and sportsmanship. We all loved it and can't wait until next year.

International Week
This week the children will be celebrating International Week. Each year group has be allocated 1 country. They will be finding out information about the country, using atlases and the Internet. The children will also be cooking and reading traditional stories.
On Tuesday the children were entertained by Phase 5, a Steel Band. They were amazing and both the staff and the children had a wonderful time listening to the music and dancing along. Year 3 were then invited to practise playing the steel drums. They performed their songs to Years 1, 2 and 4.

St Aidan's Football Team
Well done to all the players of St Aidan's Football Team who won the Primary Sports Team of the Year. The children were awarded this prestige trophy in our school assembly today. They have worked so hard throughout the year and their hardwork has been recognised in this award. A big thank you to Mr Wade and Mr Kasparis.
Maths Day
The NED Show
Amanda from The NED Show came in today to show the children her yoyo tricks. She was amazing and told a very funny story about Ned's adventures. It was a great show because the children were able to see with a bit of practise you can perform stunning yoyo moves.
Ned and Amanda also told us that with practise and encouragement you can be a Champion.
Remember NED means -
Never Give Up
Encourage Others
Do your Best!

Our Hero!
On Friday the 29th I went to Brentwood Cathedral to receive Young Citizenship Award. The award is presented to children who show true courage and determination. The award was presented by Bishop Thomas.
I received this award for pulling my friend, Naran 5 from the icy lake in Valantines Park. From my experience I advise that everyone stays away from lakes and rivers.
I feel very privileged to recive this award, and thank Mrs Brown and all the staff for supporting and nominating me.
Remember anyone in the school could be nominated for this special award next year.
